Govt Taking Effective Steps for Farmers’ Prosperity and Agriculture Modernisation

New Delhi: Union Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said the Government of India is continuously working towards farmers’ prosperity and the modernisation of the agriculture sector through various schemes and policy initiatives.

In a written message shared during the 55th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Indian Farmers Fertiliser Cooperative Limited (IFFCO), Shah highlighted the government’s focus on strengthening agriculture and cooperatives under the vision of building a developed India by 2047.

He mentioned that initiatives such as:

  • PM-KISAN
  • Digital Agriculture Mission
  • Promotion of nano urea and nano DAP

They are contributing towards improving agricultural productivity and supporting farmers with modern farming solutions.

Focus on Agricultural Modernisation

According to Shah, innovative fertiliser products like nano urea and nano DAP have helped strengthen India’s position in the fertiliser sector while also supporting farmers in improving productivity at lower costs.

He also appreciated IFFCO’s contribution to the cooperative movement and its role in supporting India’s agriculture and fertiliser ecosystem.

IFFCO Reports Annual Performance

During the AGM, IFFCO shared details of its financial performance and organisational initiatives. According to the organisation:

  • IFFCO reported a profit of ₹4,585 crore in the last financial year
  • An employee incentive of ₹490.65 crore was announced
  • A minimum wage of ₹20,000 for lower-level employees was declared

The event witnessed participation from more than 850 cooperative leaders, farmer representatives, member societies, and stakeholders from across the country.

Awards for Contribution to Cooperative Movement

IFFCO also announced the IFFCO Sahakarita Ratna Award 2024-25 for Shakeela Akhtar in recognition of her contribution towards strengthening women’s participation in agriculture and cooperative activities, particularly in Jammu & Kashmir.

The IFFCO Sahakarita Bandhu Award 2024-25 was conferred on Bhavna Gondaliya for her contribution to the cooperative movement and women’s empowerment in agriculture.

Importance of Agricultural Connectivity and Coordination

As agriculture continues to modernise through technology, cooperative initiatives, and policy reforms, stronger coordination across the farming ecosystem is becoming increasingly important.
