ICAR-NIBSM Conducts Awareness Programme on Scientific Nutrient Management in Raipur

Raipur: The ICAR-National Institute of Biotic Stress Management (ICAR-NIBSM), Raipur, organised an awareness programme in Bithia village, Tilda block, to promote the adoption of science-based nutrient management practices among farmers.

The programme was conducted under the ‘Mera Gaon Mera Gaurav’ (MGMG) initiative and the Scheduled Caste Sub Plan (SCSP), in line with the broader action plan of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) to encourage sustainable agriculture across the country.

Awareness Programme on Scientific Nutrient Management

Focus on Balanced Fertiliser Use

During the technical sessions, scientists highlighted the importance of balanced and judicious use of fertilisers. Experts explained that proper nutrient management not only improves crop productivity but also helps maintain long-term soil health.

They also discussed eco-friendly alternatives and sustainable practices aimed at reducing excessive chemical usage and improving environmental sustainability in farming.

Active Participation from the Farming Community

The programme saw participation from 40 farmers, including 18 women, reflecting an inclusive approach towards agricultural awareness and knowledge sharing at the grassroots level.

Village Sarpanch Dushyant Sahu also addressed the gathering and encouraged farmers to adopt scientific practices to improve their productivity and livelihoods.

Promoting Sustainable Agriculture at the Grassroots Level

Such initiatives are part of a larger national effort to promote scientific farming techniques and ensure their effective reach at the village level. The campaign is being monitored at the government level to strengthen the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices.

Supporting Better Farmer Connectivity on the Ground

While awareness programmes play an important role in promoting scientific farming practices, access to the right network and coordination on the ground is equally important for farmers. Platforms like KisanSabha help farmers connect with dealers, transporters, and other stakeholders, supporting smoother agricultural operations and better access to resources.

Such connectivity complements on-ground initiatives by enabling farmers to stay linked with the broader agricultural ecosystem.
