India has nearly ten chilly varieties.\u202f\u202fBesides adding a flavor to our palates; chilies have other impressive advantages for our well-being. They help the digestive system, foster a healthier heart, alleviate joint pain, facilitate weight loss, minimize migraine, reduce the risk of cancer, and avoid allergies and other diseases.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Portuguese navigators in the 16th century were known for bringing\u202fChillies, (also known as Mirchi in India), to be carried to Asia. These people came to India and were very popular with Vasco-Da-Gama. Apart from the\u202fIndian cuisine\u202fchillies are used\u202falso in Ayurveda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>India is the largest global exporter of prime red chili. Research has shown that almost 13.6 million tons of red chili were produced here last year. The export of Chilli from India constitutes almost 50 percent of the worldwide market for this wonderful spice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There are a variety of Indian chilies, though some are very strong in heat and can break one into tears, some are less pungent and only popular for their taste and color. Now let us look at the most common red chilies in India found and developed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Varieties of Chilli in India<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Bhut Jolokia: Bhut Jolokia is also known as &#8216;ghost pepper&#8217; and in 2007 the Guinness Book rated it\u202fas the world&#8217;s hottest chilly. This\u202fChilli pepper is\u202fgrown in\u202fArunachal Pradesh, Assam, Nagaland, and Manipur. Bhut Jolokia\u202fis an interspecific (Capsicum Chinese and Capsicum frutescent) hybrid chili pepper. Bhut jolokia, usually mixed with pork or dried or fermented fish, is used for preparing\u202fa meal full of seasoning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Guntur Chilli<\/strong>:\u00a0Guntur is the largest manufacturer and exporter\u00a0in Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, the Middle East, South Korea, the United Kingdom, the USA, and Latin America with the most varieties of\u00a0Chilli\u00a0and\u00a0Chilli\u00a0powders in India.\u00a0Guntur Sannamis also grown in Madhya Pradesh, are one of the styles of Guntur chilly.\u00a0All of the spicy dishes that are famous across the globe in this particular region actually\u00a0belong\u00a0to the Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Kashmiri chilies<\/strong>:\u00a0This chili\u202fis the most desired after red chili in India because of its\u00a0color, as its name implies. Indian\u00a0cooking without Kashmiri\u00a0mirch\u00a0powder is incomplete, which brings color\u00a0to every household cook&#8217;s\u00a0mouth-watering\u00a0dishes. In contrast to the other variants found in India, it is less hot or pungent.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Byadagi\u00a0chili<\/strong>:\u00a0It is a well-known chili species, mostly cultivated in Karnataka. It was named for the city of\u00a0Byadagi\u00a0in the Karnataka district of\u00a0Haveri.\u00a0Byadagi\u00a0chili is famous for its flavor and pungency.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Dhani<\/strong>:\u00a0Dhani\u00a0is widely developed in Mizoram and in some parts of Manipur, which is known as Bird&#8217;s Eye Chilli because of its form. Though it&#8217;s the smallest, it&#8217;s really spicy, pungent, and bright red chili that&#8217;s popular in the Calcutta markets.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Gundu<\/strong>:\u00a0It is the round fat\u00a0chili\u00a0that is grown in Tamil Nadu in the fertile\u00a0Ramnad\u00a0regions. Fat and round means\u00a0Gundu\u00a0in Tamil. That&#8217;s why the name. Chutneys,\u00a0sambars,\u00a0and\u00a0tadcas\u00a0in the south of India favored this chilly to add spicy and mouth-watering flavor.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Jwala<\/strong>:\u00a0The\u00a0chili\u00a0is predominantly cultivated in Kheda,\u00a0Mehsana,\u00a0and southern Gujarat. It is also called finger hot pepper (FHP). While it is green at the outset, it becomes red as it matures. They can also be cultivated at home. This\u00a0chili\u00a0has a rather pungent taste and is conveniently on the shelf during the year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Indo-5 chili<\/strong>:\u00a0This is one of the most renowned red chilies in India, popularly known as Indem-5, US-5, and Endo-5 Chilli, and is shipped in great amounts around the world. The largest producers of Indo 5 red chili in India are Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. The size is longer, the skin is heavier and the heat is comparatively poor.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Warangal\u00a0Chappata<\/strong>:\u00a0Short\u00a0and deep red\u00a0color, less slick and moderate taste,\u00a0Chili\u00a0Tomato\u00a0or\u00a0ChapPata\u00a0Warangal is very colored and has low heat, which is commonly used in color extraction.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Bhavnagri\u00a0mirchi<\/strong>:\u00a0Bhavnagri\u00a0long chili plants grow 13cm long and 2cm\u00a0big hot peppers during\u202fgood yield. These peppers are very hot and as they mature, transform from green to red.
