In News-\u00a0<\/strong>The Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Central Road Research Institute (CSIR-CRRI) has launched Kisan Sabha App to connect farmers to\u00a0supply chain<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0freight transportation Management System<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aim and significance:<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
  • Kisan Sabha aims to provide the most economical and timely logistics support<\/strong> to the farmers.<\/li>
  • It increases their profit margins by minimizing<\/strong> the<\/strong> interference of middlemen<\/strong> and directly connecting them with the institutional buyers.<\/li>
  • It will also help in providing the best market rates of crops by comparing<\/strong> prices from<\/strong> nearest mandis<\/strong>, booking of freight vehicle at the cheapest possible cost, thereby giving maximum benefit to the farmers<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

    Key Features: <\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
    • The portal connects the various stakeholders like farmers, transporters, Service providers (like pesticides\/ fertilizer\/ dealers, cold store and warehouse owner), mandi dealers, customers (like big retail outlets, online stores, institutional buyers) and other related entities for an effective solution.<\/li>
    • The portal acts as a single stop for every entity related to agriculture, , be they a farmer who needs better price for the crops or mandi dealer who wants to connect to more farmers or truckers who invariably go empty from the mandis.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Rationale behind the launching of the App: <\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
      • In the present situation of COVID 19  pandemic, farmers are looking for help in their harvest reaching the market, seed\/ fertilizer procurement for next season crop etc. <\/li>
      • A robust supply chain management is urgently required to facilitate the timely delivery of the product at the best possible prices.<\/li>
      • The overall agriculture market is not well organized and a lot of produce gets wasted or is being sold at very low rates.<\/li>
      • Based on this current prevailing situation, the Kisan Sabha App was developed.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        About the CSIR-CRRI:<\/strong><\/em><\/h4>\n\n\n\n
        • It was established in 1950 as a constituent laboratory of India\u2019s Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.<\/li>
